Both of my grandmothers had these in their kitchens Becky and they worked really well, better than some of the modern day exhaust systems. Sometmes "simple" is better. :-)
I never knew anyone who had one of these and didn't realize they worked well. Good to know they did. And I would suspect they are a lot better than the vents that are built into microwaves and things like that!
I'm thinking of a Wolf downdraft for the new house.
